What is Sports Performance Training?

Sports performance training teaches individuals to maximize their athletic performance and prevent future injuries.  Performance specialists work with clients on muscular balancing and movement mechanics, and help them to improve speed, agility, strength, power, conditioning and reaction time.

About CentraState Sports Performance

  • CentraState Sports Performance is designed for both recreational and competitive athletes of all ages.

  • All trainers are sports performance experts and athletes.

  • The program offers the only functional movement screen and selective functional movement assessment training available in Central and Southern New Jersey.

  • Maximum 8:1 trainees to coach ratio.

  • High speed video analysis allows you to view your body movements and correct your technique.

  • Vibraflex® whole-body vibration helps improve strength and balance without the constraints of conventional exercise.

  • All participants undergo an initial, one-on-one assessment with a sports performance specialist. The assessment includes motion analysis, injury assessment, jumping, landing and pivoting analysis, and gait analysis. This assessment, along with your age and training goals, allows the performance specialist to determine your skill level.

Should your initial assessment uncover a pre-existing medical condition or injury that precludes you from training, you can be referred to the on-site physical therapy team that is trained in sports performance, and you can rejoin the program once you recover.

The Facility

Monroe 33 Tennis, Basketball & Sports Center is Central New Jersey's elite sports performance and training facility.  There are 2 regulation basketball courts, 5 tennis courts and a 21,000 sq foot turf field.  Along with the exceptional physical plant, the facility offers video of performance training that can be accessed from home via a computer with an individual pin number.

The Workout - Part II

  • Olympic lifting techniques
  • Functional strength training
  • Linear and lateral conditioning
  • Strong focus on basic and correct technique

Sports Injury to Sports Recovery

A number of sports injuries are acute in nature and CentraState has specially trained physicians to deal with both the acute and recovery phase.  CentraState Sports Performance specializes in the chronic and nagging injury that tends to be due to overuse.  These injuries are due to muscle imbalances and need therapists who have specialized training in recognizing the underlying problem.  Recovery from a sports injury needs specialized care and personal attention.

The Therapists

Sports Performance is an active recovery and improvement center.  The therapy and performance staff all are dedicated to the profession and continually strive for clinical excellence.  Our staff are certified in the Functional Movement Screen and two of our therapists have received Titlest Golf Medical Specialist Certification.  Along with Doctor’s of Physical Therapy, we have Certified Athletic Trainers on staff. There is minimal passive treatment and activity and a large dose patient participation.  Not all clients and patients are comfortable with this practice; if this is the case we will be happy to identify other facilities that will meet your needs.
