MSC/CJB COVID-19 Update

(Jun 11) We hope you and your families are all safe and doing well during these challenging times.  MSC and CJB are officially open as of Mon Jun 8 with several restrictions in both basketball and tennis.  Click Here for Tennis or Here for Basketball to view the policies and procedures that MSC/CJB will implement in order to keep our customers and staff safe now that we are open.  All basketball and tennis programs at MSC and CJB are listed below with target dates when we hope to resume each program and links to updated safety measures to keep everyone as safe as possible.  Please note that these dates are tentative and are based on the trends we are seeing in the numbers and policies in New Jersey.  These dates may be changed as new information or new guidelines become available.  Any program below that does not have a specific date listed means that there is still no definite date when that program can resume.

You can be assured that every dollar that has been spent at MSC or CJB for a program or event that has been or will be canceled due to the shutdown will be made up or credited back to you.  At this point, we are unable to process any refunds for any reason, but all of these credits and makeups will be added to our internal system and will never expire.  Below is a list of all of our programs, broken down by sport, with specific information about how credits and makeups are being handled.   If you have any questions, please email us at info@monroesportscenter.com.

 

Tennis

  • Tennis Season Courts & Lessons: As of June 8, MSC is open and available for season court & lesson members to begin making up missed court time. Due to the length of the shutdown and the fact that everyone's schedule has changed significantly, season courts and lessons will NOT automatically be put back at their same day & time.  All season court and lesson members are entitiled to makeups for ALL of the weeks missed due to the shutdown.   • 12u, Junior & Adult Tennis Clinics: The season has been extended and all weeks that have been missed have been rescheduled for the existing day & time, beginning the week of July 6. Players will automatically be placed in the remaining weeks of the tennis clinic that you were previously registered for. Consistent with our usual makeup policy for clinics, with at least 24 hours notice customers may switch to any clinic at the same level on a different day.  These makeups may carry over to future seasons so if you are unable to use all of your makeups before the end of the summer, you can use those makeups in the fall or any other future season.   • Junior Team Tennis: Junior Team Tennis is tentatively scheduled to resume as early as Fri June 26.  The Fall JTT ended right before the 3rd place and championship match.  Those 2 matches will be rescheduled shortly and a Fall JTT Champion will be crowned.  The USTA portion of the JTT season will begin immediately following the 3rd place & Championship matches. NEW PLAYERS MAY STILL REGISTER FOR THE USTA PORTION OF THE JTT SEASON. Players that are not comfortable returning to JTT may carry over the credit for their remaining matches towards the Fall JTT or anything else at MSC.  The USTA JTT rosters and schedule will be posted when we have a definite list of players who are ready to play.

  • Orange Ball & Green Ball JTT:  The Spring season of Orange Ball JTT and Green Ball JTT will resume as soon as early as Fri June 26. NEW PLAYERS MAY STILL REGISTER FOR THE GREEN BALL & ORANGE BALL JTT. Players that are no comfortable returning to Green/Orange Ball JTT may carry over the credit for their remaining matches towards the Fall JTT or anything else at MSC. Once we have a definite list of players who are ready to play, we will post an updated schedule for both Orange Ball JTT and Green Ball JTT.

  • USTA Tournaments: All Middle States Tournaments have been canceled by the USTA until June 30.  All tournaments after July 1 are still on as scheduled, but as the situation evolves the USTA will continue to update.

  • Special Events (Elite Round Robins, High Performance Drill Groups, Junior Tennis Ladders): All special events are still off until further notice.  

  • Summer Camps (Level Up Camp, Junior Camp and Adult Camp):  All MSC Summer Tennis Camps will begin the week of Mon July 6, as originally scheduled.  This includes Level Up Tennis Camp with Coaches Karen Shinn & Will Jacobowitz, Junior Tennis Camp with Coaches Vinny Granito, Glendon Nicholas, Sean Tavel & Marek Hep, and Adult Tennis Camp with Coaches Vinny Granito & Sean Tavel. 12u Tennis Camp will not run this summer. Basketball

  • Winter MJBL: The winter season has officially been canceled.  All teams that had games remaining in their season will receive credit for those games that can be used for future MJBL seasons or anything else at MSC or CJB.  For example, if your team paid $1000 for 10 games, and you only played 8 of those games before the season was suspended, you will receive a $200 credit that will never expire.  Please note that you are not required to play another full season to receive the credit.  In the example above, you may choose to just play 2 games on any date you want and we will work you into the current MJBL season against opponents at your age and level.

  • Winter CJ Hawks, MSC Hawks & NJ Falcons players: The winter season has officially been canceled.  All players that had events (games or practices) remaining on their schedule will receive a credit for $10 per event missed that will not expire and can be used for future teams or anything else at MSC or CJB.

  • Winter Independent teams: The winter season has officially been canceled.  All players on independent teams will receive credit for all games and practices remaining on their schedule.  Independent teams where players were invoiced individually will have the individual credit placed directly under each player's name.  Independent teams where 1 person paid the entire invoice will have the team credit placed under their name.

  • Spring/Summer MJBL: The Spring MJBL has been combined with the Summer MJBL and will resume as early as Monday July 6.  NEW TEAMS MAY STILL REGISTER FOR THE SUMMER MJBL. The Summer MJBL will run through early-mid September, spanning approximately 10 weeks for the regular season and 1 week for playoffs. Any team that had previously registered and paid for the Spring MJBL but does not want to participate in the Summer season for any reason will receive full credit that may be used towards the Fall MJBL or anything else at MSC/CJB.  The first couple weeks of the Summer MJBL will be posted by June 26. Spring/Summer MJBL teams should update their online scheduling request forms because that is what we will use to schedule games and avoid conflicts. Any team that has not filled out their online request form or any team that registers now will be required to fill out their request form.  Click Here for a list of safety measures that will be implemented for all basketball games to keep players, coaches, refs and spectators as safe as possible.

  • Spring/Summer CJ Hawks players: The Spring/Summer season will resume with practices the week of June 22. NEW PLAYERS MAY STILL TRY OUT FOR CJ HAWKS TEAMS AT THEIR AGE GROUP AT EITHER MSC OR CJB.  All players that were selected to a CJ Hawks team in March will remain on that team. Any player that had already paid the CJH team fee but does not want to play this season will receive a full credit that can be used towards the FallWinter season or anything else at MSC/CJB. The full practice schedules and tournament weekends are posted. The first couple weeks of the game schedule will be posted by June 26 and the full league schedule will be posted by mid-late July. Full payment for this season is required by the 2nd practice after the shutdown, which is marked on each team's website. CJ Hawks packages and payments amounts have been updated based on the number of weeks remaining. Season details and new payment amounts can be found on each team's website. Any player that had previously paid the full team fee will receive a credit for the difference between the previous team fee and the new team fee.

  • Spring/Summer MSC Hawks & NJ Falcons players: The Spring basketball season has been combined with the Summer season and all Summer MSC Hawks & NJ Falcons teams will be formed by Tuesday June 23. NEW PLAYERS MAY STILL REGISTER FOR MSC HAWKS OR NJ FALCONS TEAMS FOR THIS UPCOMING SEASON.  Any player that had already paid the full Spring MSC Hawks or NJ Falcons team fee or the Evaluation fee but does not want to play this season will receive a full credit that can be used towards the Fall season or anything else at MSC/CJB. There will be no Evaluation Day this season for the MSC Hawks or NJ Falcons so any player who had previously paid the $20 Evaluation Fee will be credited the $20 and then the balance of the team fee must be paid in full in order to be placed on a team.  All players who are registered for an MSC Hawks or NJ Falcons team will be sent an email form to fill out with scheduling and teammate requests that is due by Sun June 21.  MSC Hawks & NJ Falcons practices will start the week of June 29 and league games will start the week of July 6.  All MSC Hawks teams for this Summer 2020 season will be based at MSC and all NJ Falcons teams this Summer 2020 will be based at CJB.  There will be no MSC Hawks teams in West Windsor or Howell this Summer.  Teams in those locations will resume in Fall 2020.

  • Spring/Summer Independent Teams: Independent team practices that were missed may be rescheduled as early as the week of June 15.  NEW INDEPENDENT TEAMS MAY STILL BE FORMED AND MAY BOOK PRACTICE TIME ON A WEEKLY BASIS AT ANY LOCATION. The Spring basketball season has been combined with the Summer season and Summer MJBL games will begin July 6.  Any team that had previously registered and paid for the Spring season but does not want to participate in the Summer season for any reason will receive full credit that may be used towards the Fall or anything else at MSC/CJB. All Independent teams will be asked to confirm their season packages and rosters so we can update the individual invoices if necessary.

  • Winter Mens League:  The winter season ended right before the Championship games were played.  Those 5 Championship games will be rescheduled the week of June 22.

  • SpringSummer Mens League: The Spring MJBL has been combined with the Summer MJBL and will resume as early as Mon June 29. NEW TEAMS MAY STILL REGISTER FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER MENS LEAGUE. The Summer Mens League will run through early-mid September, spanning approximately 10 weeks for the regular season and 1-2 weeks for playoffs.  There will also be an option for teams to be finished by mid-Aug to accommodate players that need to return to college in the fall. Any team that had previously registered and paid for the Spring Adult League but does not want to participate in the Summer season for any reason will receive full credit that may be used towards the Fall Adult League or anything else at MSC/CJB. The next couple weeks of the Summer Adult League will be posted by Monday June 22 and the full league schedule will be posted by mid-July. All teams in the Summer Adult Basketball League should email basketball@monroesportscenter.com with updated scheduling requests and conflicts.  

  • Basketball Classes (Tiny Tots, Small Fry, Mini MSC Hawks, Skills Sessions, Girls Skills, WAC Skills, Elite Guard Training, All Star Sports, Kelvin's Basketball Academy): The season has been extended and all weeks that have been missed have been rescheduled for the existing day & time, beginning the week of June 22, with the exception of Kelvin's Basketball Academy, which will start the week of June 29. Players will automatically be placed in the remaining weeks of the basketball class that you were previously registered for. Consistent with our usual makeup policy for basketball classes, with at least 24 hours notice customers may switch to any class at the same level on a different day.  These makeups may carry over to future seasons so if you are unable to use all of your makeups before the end of the summer, you can use those makeups in the fall or any other future season. All classes during this Summer 2020 season will be held at either MSC or CJB.  There will be no Skills, Small Fry or Mini MSC Hawks classes based at Windsor Athletic Club this Summer.  Classes at that location will resume in Fall 2020.  Players who were previously registered for a WAC Basketball Class may choose to use makeups for classes at MSC or may wait and use the makeups at WAC in the Fall or any other future season. Click Here for details on the safety measures that MSC will be implementing to keep players and coaches as safe as possible during all Basketball Classes. 

  • Basketball Tournaments:  All basketball tournaments scheduled before July 6 have been canceled.  Tournaments scheduled after July 6 will run as scheduled.  Click Here for a list of upcoming basketball tournaments and Click Here for a list of safety measures that will be implemented for all basketball games to keep players, coaches, refs and spectators as safe as possible.

  • Summer Basketball Camps:  MSC & CJB are offering a unique approach to camp this year. We are offering a group rate so a team or group of friends can all attend camp together with the guarantee that they will be the only players on the court the entire time. The idea is that many teams and friends have already been hanging out and/or playing together so there is an inherent comfortability knowing that your kids will be the only ones there and will only be exposed to the players within ther team or friend group. Each weekly camp slot is 3 hours long and there are morning, afternoon and early evening slots available, beginning the week of June 22 and extending throughout the entire summer. The group price for 3 hours per day for a week is $2,400, and the maximum number of players allowed in a group is 20. The camp group will be responsible for handing in a camp form that will list all players in the group. This will be set up exactly like an independent team where the $2400 total group price will be divided by the number of players in the group and each player will be invoiced individually so no one person is responsible for collecting all of the money from your friends.  For example, if your group has 20 players, each player will be invoiced $120 for the week.  If your group has 15 players, each player will be invoiced $160 for the week.   • Basketball Rentals: Any basketball rental that was paid for and missed due to the shutdown can be rescheduled once we know when we can reopen. Birthday Parties

  • Birthday Parties:  All parties scheduled before June 7 are off and you will be credited the amount of your deposit.  At this point, parties scheduled after June 8 may remain on as scheduled for now, but if the shutdown ends up extending past the date of your party, the party will be canceled and you will be credited the amount of your deposit.  Anyone wishing to reschedule a party for a later date may do so by emailing us at info@monroesportscenter.com.

Pickleball

  • Pickleball Clinics (Drills for Success, Shot Analysis): The season has been extended and all weeks that are missed will be added to the end of the season at the same day and time. Consistent with our usual makeup policy for pickleball clinics, with at least 24 hours notice customers may switch to any class in the same program on a different day.  These makeups may carry over to future seasons so if you are unable to use all of your makeups before the end of the season, you can use those makeups in any other future season.

  • Pickleball Tournaments: Battle of the Paddle 7 will be rescheduled for a future date once we know when we can reopen.  

  • Pickleball Rentals: Any pickleball rental that was paid for and missed due to the shutdown can be rescheduled once we know when we can reopen..

Badminton

  • Badminton Clinics & Lessons (Adult, Junior & Eagles Elite): The season has been extended and all weeks that are missed will be added to the end of the season at the same day and time. With at least 24 hours notice customers may switch to any class in the same program on a different day.  These makeups may carry over to future seasons so if you are unable to use all of your makeups before the end of the season, you can use those makeups in any other future season.

  • Badminton Adult & Junior Leagues: Badminton Adult & Junior Leagues will be rescheduled for a future date once we know when we can reopen.  

  • Badminton Rentals: Any badminton rental that was paid for and missed due to the shutdown can be rescheduled at any time after June 8, based on gym availability.
