Junior Programs

Monroe Sports Center is dedicated to providing the best junior tennis program possible. Our management team has owned and operated other tennis clubs for 20 years. We have developed successful techniques to accommodate our students so they find the perfect programs and clinics with others of the same age and level. Our top-notch tennis pros make tennis fun, with a focus on teaching fundamentals, strategy and sportsmanship so our junior players can develop into the best players they can be. Video Cameras on Every Court

Monroe Sports Center has state-of-the-art video cameras on every tennis court so students will be able to watch their lessons, clinics and matches (member log-in required) with their pro or on their own. Film study has been proven to be an invaluable method of learning, in all sports at all levels. Monroe Sports Center is proud to offer this unique service to all its members.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Get individual attention from one of our distinguished tennis pros. Our pros have a lot of experience working with kids of all ages and levels. Each child will have their own personalized lesson plan, incorporating individual goals over the long term. Each lesson over the 29 week season will build on previous lessons, with the focus being on having fun and improving as much as you can.

Junior Clinics

The first session of Junior Clinics will begin on Sept 7, 2010 and run for 12 weeks. 

Pee Wees (ages 3-7):
This 12 week program will introduce your child to the game of tennis in a fun and lively environment. The primary focus will be on developing basic motor skills through a variety of creative and entertaining games, which will keep the children involved and having fun. Children will be placed with similar age groups.

Beginner:
This 12 week program is designed for  players who are just starting to learn tennis. Our emphasis is placed on sound fundamentals of the game, from proper footwork and grips to stroke production and movement. Basics of match play will also be introduced.

Advanced Beginner Clinics:
This 12 week program is designed for the player who has some experience and completed the beginner level. This player can hit groundstrokes with proper grips and stance as well as having a basic execution of volleys and serves. Our focus will be on developing reliable ground-strokes, volleys and serves as well as consistency, movement and ball control.

Intermediate:
This 12 week program is designed for a player who has some tournament experience at the local or club level. Students will discover and develop advanced techniques and footwork skills. Live ball drills will be used with an emphasis on movement, court positioning, strategy and mental toughness.

Advanced Intermediate:
This 12 week program is geared towards players who have tournament experience at the USTA Middle States or Sectional level and above. Emphasis is placed on high percentage tennis and the development of an all court game using efficient and effective strokes. Students will build power and consistency, learn winning strategies and improve mental toughness. Players will be challenged through variety of advanced fast paced live ball tactical and technical drills.

High School Varsity (ages 13-17):
This 12 week program is designed for the player who is currently on or expects to be on his or her High School Varsity Tennis team. Students will improve their strokes, footwork, physical conditioning and self-confidence in singles and doubles competition.

Club Tournaments

These exclusive club tournaments will be held on Saturday evenings. Open to juniors of all levels, Monroe Sports Center Club Tournaments are a great way for kids to take what they've learned in their lessons and clinics and apply them to fun, competitive matches. Tournaments will be set up by age and level. You must be a Monroe Sports Center member to play. Results will be published on our website and all the action will be recorded by our state-of-the-art video cameras.

USTA Middle States Tournaments

Monroe Sports Center is an organizational member of the USTA and will be hosting several district and sectional tournaments for boys and girls of all age groups each year. Schedules and results will be published on both USTA and Monroe Sports Center websites. All matches may at player's opton be recorded by our video cameras and be available to watch on the internet or downloaded onto a DVD with a member log-in.

Advanced Coaching

For our juniors looking to take tennis to the next level, our advanced lessons and clinics will focus on more than just tennis instruction. Whether you are looking to make your high school tennis team, get a national ranking or use tennis to get into college, our pros and staff have the personal experience to help you with these processes. It's not easy, but with hard work, dedication, and a little guidance, you can take your game to the highest level and we'll be there every step of the way to help.

Fitness Training

Monroe Tennis Center has 2 full time certified fitness/sports trainers on staff. They are available to teach and train junior athletes in stretching, agility, strength, speed and avoiding common injuries. Take fitness classes in our dedicated workout room or we can set up larger classes in the full 14,000 square foot gym. Fitness classes and instruction are also available for parents while your children are playing tennis.

Tseng Performance Academy

Monroe Sports Center features Ed Tseng and his one-of-a-kind tennis, fitness/nutrition and mental training programs.  Other services include team sessions, coaching sessions, one-on-one coaching/phone sessions and presentations to groups.

Topics include: focus, relaxation/stress reduction, motivation/activation, performing under pressure, how to win more and how to increase self-confidence.
