MSC & CJB COVID-19 Safety Measures for Indoor Basketball Games

Basketball Safety Measures

  1. Any staff member or customer experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 or anyone who has been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past two weeks should not enter the facility.  Any staff member or customer who has traveled to another country or to a state on the quarantine list should not attend any MSC events for 2 weeks following their return.
  2. As of Feb 12 and based on the current government order, 2 spectators per player will be allowed to watch games at Monroe Sports Center.  Click Here for specific rules on spectators at all locations.
  3. All patrons must wear a mask when inside the building & should be socially distanced as much as possible. Players & referees do not need to wear a mask while they are in the game, but all coaches & players must wear a mask before and after the game and it recommended that players wear a mask on the bench when they are not in the game.  If you forgot your mask, MSC will have masks available to purchase for $5 at the desk. MSC staff will be present on the courts to ensure that the protocols are being followed.
  4. Coaches, players and parents will be directed where to enter and exit their court. Please enter the Yellow Court thru the main door and exit from the back gym door underneath the opposite scoreboard near bathrooms.  Please enter the Red Court thru the door by the main desk in the lobby and exit thru the side gym door underneath the opposite scoreboard.  Click Here for a Diagram of where you should enter and exit each court.
  5. As much as possible, the start times on each court will be staggered in order to limit the amount of contact between players entering and exiting their courts.
  6. Everyone should wait until the previous game or event clears before entering the court.
  7. Only 1 parent/coach volunteer may be asked to keep score.  This 1 parent volunteer will be responsible for doing both the clock and the book.  There will be hand sanitizer and cleaning spray on the scorer's table so the scorekeeper can wipe down any common surfaces.
  8. Teams & players should bring their own basketballs.  Make sure to write your name on your basketball. There will be no basketballs available at MSC or CJB.
  9. Cleaning spray and paper towels will also be placed on the scorer's table.  Coaches & Players should wipe down the benches before and/or after their game.
  10. Coaches are responsible for ensuring their players clean the bench area of all water bottles, etc and leave the court area immediately following the conclusion of their game.  Any post game talks need to be outside the building.
  11. Hand sanitizer will be placed on the scorer's table. It is recommended that coaches, players & referees wash their hands at every break.
  12.  Whenever possible, doors will be propped open so customers can avoid touching door handles.
  13. All basketball class, league and tournament registration must be done in advance and all payments must be made online in advance. We would like to avoid all transactions at the desk if possible. We would actually like to avoid as much contact between customers and staff at the desk as possible.  With payments being made online and signs directing players right onto and off the court, players and parents should really have no reason to congregate at the desk.
