FAQs Regarding Seasonal Court Rentals:

  • Can a group change its weekly playing time on occasion, if desired? That may be possible if the desired court time is open and if the group gives Monroe Sports Center or pickleball director Jeff Onuschak adequate notice.
  • What happens if Monroe Sports Center is closed for a holiday or bad weather during a day our group is scheduled to play? Will there be make-up days? Credits or make-ups days due to weather conditions or other uncontrollable events will be determined at the sole discretion of MSC. Make-up days may be given if courts are available. Contact our pickleball director Jeff Onuschak about the possibility of rescheduling your group’s game.
  • What holidays does Monroe Sports Center close for? News Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas
  • Is it okay to use substitutes for occasional absent players? Yes, but substitutes will be charged $10 per two-hour play session if they are a member of another seasonal group at Monroe Sport Center, and $12.50 if they are not a member of another seasonal group. Ideally, groups should have enough members to ensure they have enough players for weekly games when a member is absent.
  • Can an individual join a group after the season has already started? Or, what happens if a paid member of a seasonal group needs to drop out of the group? Can the group replace this member with another? Monroe Sports Center will not be able to refund money to individual players who drop out of a group after a season begins. If a group wants to replace a departing member with another, the team captain should inform our pickleball director Jeff Onuschak of this action.
  • When can--or should--seasonal courts be booked? Seasonal courts can be booked by current-year seasonal court holders starting January 1st prior to the start of the September-May or October-March seasons, and starting February 1st by all other players. Seasonal courts book up quickly--so don’t wait too long to book your group’s desired day and time!
  • How will members of seasonal courts be billed? For October through March weekday seasonal courts, a deposit of $50 is due from each member (for groups of six or more players) when their group commits to a seasonal court rental, with the remaining $90 (of the total $140/member fee) due from each member by October 1st. For September through May seasonal court rentals, a deposit of $90 is due when someone commits to reserving one weekly court hour for the season, and $180 is due if they commit to reserving two weekly court hours, with the remaining seasonal court costs due by September 1st
  •
  • What if my group doesn’t want to--or can’t--play the entire standard season? Can it book seasonal courts for fewer weeks at a reduced rate? It’s possible to book seasonal courts for fewer weeks than the regular season and have your court pro-rated accordingly, if courts are still available after the season begins. Contact our pickleball director Jeff Onuschak if you have this request. If your group needs to drop out or withdraw altogether from play after the season begins, the Monroe Sports Center reserves the right to not refund your group’s payment for a seasonal court.
  •
  • Will seasonal play be on your indoor tennis court surface or on your wooden gym floor surface? It will be on the tennis court surface.
