Beginners

WEEK 1

  • Tennis Introduction – parts of the court, tennis racquet, basic strokes
  • Movement – ready position, the first step to the ball, recovery steps, shuffle steps, the split step, speed, balance and power
  • Eye-hand coordination development

WEEK 2

  • Groundstrokes fundamentals – Forehand groundstroke (grip, stance, footwork, biomechanics)

WEEK 3

  • Groundstroke fundamentals – Backhand groundstroke (grip, stance, footwork, biomechanics)

WEEK 4

  • System 5 introduction (height, depth, power, spin and placement)
  • Groundstrokes rally, rally speed

WEEK 5

  • Volleys and overheads introduction

WEEK 6

  • Serve and return introduction

WEEK 7

  • Front foot pivot on forehand and backhand groundstroke
  • Ball placement

WEEK 8

  • Trouble shots – high, wide and short balls

WEEK 9

  • Basic court positioning in singles and doubles

WEEK 10

  • Match play introduction – before, during and after the match
  • Basic rules of tennis and scoring system

WEEK 11

  • Basic singles match play patterns

WEEK 12

  • Game day

Advanced Beginners - Intermediate 

WEEK 1 

  • Movement review – ready position, the first step to the ball, recovery steps, shuffle steps, the split step, speed, balance and power
  • Modern forehand introduction (grip, stance, footwork, biomechanics)

WEEK 2

  • Modern backhand introduction (grip, stance, footwork, biomechanics)
  • Trouble shots review and hitting on the run

WEEK 3 

  • Shot selection and shot execution (5 ways to challenge an opponent)

WEEK 4

  • Volley and overhead technique
  • Net positioning and net coverage

WEEK 5

  • Serve and return
  • Court positioning, ball placement and strategy on first and second serve

WEEK 6 

  • Transition game in singles and doubles
  • Mental toughness introduction

WEEK 7 

  • Doubles strategy I – moving as a team, following the ball

WEEK 8 

  • Doubles strategy II – poaching and switching tactics

WEEK 9 

  •  Singles strategy I– baseline patterns

WEEK 10 

  • Singles strategy II – transition and net patterns

WEEK 11 

  • Supervised match play – round robin tournament

WEEK 12

Advanced

WEEK 1 

  • Groundstrokes – footwork review (neutral stance, closed stance, semi-open and opens stance)
  • Mental toughness

WEEK 2

  • Advanced volley techniques – low volley, half volley
  • Advanced overhead technique – scissors kick

WEEK 3

  • Advanced serve and return techniques
  • Serve and volley tactic

WEEK 4

  • Specialty shots I – high looper and lobs, groundstroke and volley angle

WEEK 5

  • Specialty shots II – slice, drop shot, groundstroke and volley short angle

WEEK 6

  • Transition game I - singles

WEEK 7

  • Transition game II - doubles

WEEK 8

  •  Passing shots in singles and doubles

WEEK 9

  •  Styles of play I – singles and advanced single patterns  

WEEK 10

  • Styles of play II – doubles and advanced doubles pattern

WEEK 11

  • Supervise match play – round robin tournament
